Getting Back Into Training

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve worked out and today was not fun.  After being on the road for 2 weeks, and the getting ready for the trip, I couldn’t find the time to fit in any workouts.  I know, I know, that’s an excuse.  But when you have a 1 year old and are driving over 2500 miles, you sometimes have to make a sacrifice.  Boy did I feel it by the end of the trip! I was feeling bloated and tired and just a little lazy.  I had brought my running clothes and shoes with plans on taking a few runs in the beautiful country side, but the early morning rain and my little one finally deciding to walk on her own kept me from some morning runs.

So this morning I decided to jump back into my training with a little cross training workout.  Wow!! How a few weeks takes its toll.  I was totally amped prior to vacation because I could finally do push ups without feeling like my arms wanted to explode.  Well, now they feel like they want to explode again.  Oh well, my vacation and seeing my daughter off exploring was totally worth it.  I go for my first run tomorrow night, and possibly I’ll get to do a little speed work too.  I’ve got to get something in because I start regular 6 mile runs on Saturdays this week too.
